Why should I choose TONN Model Management over others?
In just a few short years, TONN catapulted itself to being a top agency in New England with models working in New York, Milan, Los Angeles and beyond. We forced other local agencies to become more competitive, while we focused on the local and international markets.
TONN is a management company. While other agencies represent several hundred models, we only represent a selected few, so that models are not competing within their own agency.
True to its management philosophy, TONN trains female models for runway bookings without any costs to the model. This is a service that is unique to this agency.
TONN also does not make money from your composite cards and photography, or require you to pay for classes, as many agencies do. We also do not charge models for being on our web site. The only fee we charge is the standard 10% commission from your bookings.
We also lead the way when it comes to technology. About 90% of our jobs are booked on-line and via telephone for national and international clients. Unlike local agencies, who only focus on the local market, TONN focuses on the international markets.
TONN is also the premier firm when it comes to runways and red carpet events in Boston. Large organizations, such as the Ellie Fund, Harvard Club, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and the Museum of Science have all approached our agency to exclusively participate in their red carpet benefits.
TONN is socially conscious and does not book models for fur campaigns or animal tested cosmetic products. We raise thousands for non-profits each year, such as Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts and The Animal Rescue League of Boston.
Do I have to pay any fees?
You do not have to pay any fees for us to represent you. If we represent you, you will be on our web site and we will market you at no charge. We are also the ONLY agency in New England that will do your photos for you and deduct the costs from your future earnings. Other agencies require that you'd pay for the photography upfront. Some may also charge you to be on their web site.
Who are TONN's clients?
Please see our partial client list.
Do you hold open calls?
We do not hold open calls. For consideration, please follow our submission requirements.
What is the difference between commercial print and fashion models?
Generally, fashion models are taller and more slender. This is so because height commands more presence on runways, and designers and stores who provide pieces for shows and shoots, tend to provide them in smaller sizes. In addition, fashion models must be photogenic, which means that their features tend to be more symmetrical.
Commercial models must hold a wide range of talents, such as acting and dancing, so that they may be considered for a variety of jobs. These models are most desirable for clients, who want to portray a certain image for their products or services (example: ethnic diversity), or for clients who need a model with a special talent to convey their messages (example: ability to figure skate).
What is Promotional Modeling?
Promotional modeling is live modeling. They are usually done at tradeshows or live events, where models dress a certain part and/or handout promotional materials. Speaking and interacting with clients and customers are sometimes required. Unlike most agencies that start their models at $12/hr for promotional jobs, TONN starts off at $30/hr.
Does TONN only do exclusive representation?
With few exceptions, TONN does exclusive representation. If the model is extremely in demand, TONN may choose to work non-exclusively with the model, which will allow the model to continue to freelance and work with other agencies outside the state. However, TONN does not represent models who already have an agent in the Boston area.
Is TONN a licensed agency?
Tonn Model is licensed under the state of Massachusetts to conduct business as a modeling agency. By this, our firm's professional practices and ethics are governed and supported by guidelines of the Commonwealth.
Do I need professional photos and composite cards to be a TONN Model?
Although we do not require that you have professional photography and composite cards to represent you and to send you on go-sees and auditions, you should be aware that your likelihood to work as a model is limited without these materials. Professional photos should showcase your ability to portray different 'looks' in prints and films. These images are put on our web site and composite cards to send to clients, so that you may be considered for work by clients. You do not need professional photos for submission.
